I guess this is Day 12–did I post anything for yesterday (or Saturday? Better check that out…)
Anyhoo, here’s a look at the main reason why I’m even DOING this type of thing, one Doris Wishman. Her movies aren’t just movies…they’re experiences. Take a good look at Deadly Weapons or Double Agent 73, her double feature starring actress Chesty Morgan. They have to be seen to be believed, and you WILL NOT get the soundtracks out of your head. Seriously, I can run through the soundtracks of both films in my head, beat for beat!
How does this relate to Six Degrees of Stoogeration? Come on–there’s got to be a link somewhere! Anyhoo redux, take a look around the site, it’s got plenty of great info, not just about Ms. Wishman, but much, much more!
via RON ORMOND’S CHRISTIAN SCARE FILM: IF FOOTMEN TIRE YOU, WHAT WILL HORSES DO? (1971) | 366 Weird Movies
Who DOESN’T like Godsploitation, 1970’s style? NO ONE, THAT’S WHO. And nothing brings the 70s Godsploitation like the double team of Ron Ormond and Estus Pirkle. You can’t ask for anything better. You’ve got Nazis…kinda (they’re dressed up as dirty Commies enticing kids to worship Castro for candy!), beheadings, and more fire and brimstone than you can shake a stick at! So read up and enjoy what the good folks at 366 Weird Movies have to offer!
via A Roger Corman Double Bill: Swamp Women & Avalanche – Jabootu’s Bad Movie Dimension
I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for the otherwise terrible Avalanche. The first time I saw it, it was (literally) 105 degrees and they’d let us go home early from school (yeah, kids had to WALK HOME FROM SCHOOL IN 105 DEGREE WEATHER OR RIDE AN UNAIRCONDITIONED BUS!) and this was the 12:30 Movie on KPLR-TV. I was (and am!) an unapologetic Rock Hudson fan, and had set the VCR to tape this to watch it later. I asked my mother to make sure things went off/on correctly, and she LITERALLY FELL ASLEEP while watching (I did too, so…)
I agree with most of what Ken Begg says (except the Liberace thing–NO ONE looked like Lee!), and it’s a hell of a slog to get through. Swamp Women/Diamonds is the better of the two, and it’s got Mike “Touch” Connors!
via Flesh Feast (1970) | BLEEDING SKULL!
Ah, now THIS site gets it super duper right! Short, to the point articles about the worst movies in the history of ever? Check! Movies you’ve never even heard of? Check! Movies that you not only never heard of, but you can’t believe people would actually even MAKE said movies? Check and double check!
I usually hate shorter review sites because come on, who doesn’t want to read a yuge treatise on why Jungle Hell is quite literally HELL? But Bleeding Skull works. Multiple authors and multiple viewpoints combine to make one hell of a good stew. Of course, the Flesh Feast review rocks! Enjoy!
